Shane
McGeehan

Shane McGeehan, a versatile American singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, best known as the upright bassist for Pennsylvania bluegrass band, Serene Green.

In 2022 he released his first studio album and now tours with his own project as a band leader.

Born and raised in an Irish-American family in the coal country of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Shane was introduced to music in the womb. His young life was punctuated by bluegrass festivals and the rhythm of his father’s banjo, and he was dropping in on jams since before he was big enough to hold a guitar. As a teenager he took up both the upright and electric bass. In the summer of 2015 he met his bandmates in Serene Green, and dove into bluegrass bass and singing.

Seven years later, Serene Green has toured all over the US, recorded three studio albums, and shared the stage with the likes of The Del McCoury Band, The Seldom Scene, The Infamous Stringdusters, Rhonda Vincent & The Rage, David Bromberg, Dan Tyminski Band, The Travelin’ McCourys, Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass, Sideline, Railroad Earth, Cabinet, and many others. The band has become an instant favorite at numerous music festivals, winning over audiences at festival such as DelFest, Grey Fox and Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival.

In 2023, Shane started another chapter of his career and released his first solo project on Patuxent Records, Your Love For Me Is Gold. In this project, Shane showcases his own compositions, while continuing on his search to reproduce “that sound” created by artists such as Bill Monroe, Flatt and Scruggs, the Stanley Brothers, Jimmy Martin, and others who helped create the foothold of bluegrass music.

Bushwick Mountain Boys

Formed in 2023 to satisfy New York City’s urge for tight harmonies in Bluegrass music. The Bushwick Mountain Boys share over 40 years of professional bluegrass experience, and feature 4 of NYC’s finest musicians. Together they’ve joined forces to present fine harmonies with spicy solos and a dynamic sense rarely heard in modern music. Seattle native, two-time Grammy nominee, Chris Luquette (formerly of Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen), has teamed up with the excellent banjo player, Ellery Marshall, fiery mandolinist Cesar Moreno, and renowned bassist Shane McGeehan. Ellery hails from Los Angeles and has lived in NYC nearly 20 years. His playing echoes greats from Earl Scruggs to Tom Adams. NYC native Cesar Moreno is one of the finest tenor singers in bluegrass music, and plays everything from classic bluegrass mandolin to Dawg music and jazz with ease. Bassist Shane McGeehan is a talented bassist and singer from the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, he resides currently in France’s southwestern region. He is also a first call bluegrass musician who spends time in NYC, and was a founding member of festival favorites, Serene Green.
